Missing in Brooks County is a cinema vérité documentary that follows two families searching for their loved ones who went missing in remote Brooks County, Texas, after crossing over from Mexico. A gripping drama, it is also a deeply humane portrait of the human rights workers, activists, and law enforcement agents who confront the life-and-death consequences of a broken immigration system.

Missing in Brooks County was nominated for a Critics Choice Documentary Award and has screened at more than 50 film festivals across the United States and abroad including DOC NYC, Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival, and Human Rights Watch Film Festival. Missing in Brooks County also screened for high-ranking members of the U.S. Border Patrol, including members of the Missing Migrant Program and will also premiere on the PBS series Independent Lens on Monday, 01/31/22.

Tomboy

Produced in association with Engel Entertainment and directed by Lindsay Lindenbaum, Tomboy was shot over a five year period and tells the story of four women drummers, making their mark in a stereotypically masculine field.

 

Together they span sixty years of popular music -- celebrated through a trove of previously unseen archival footage, intimate portraiture, insightful interviews and some serious drumming skills.

A Walk to Beautiful tells the story of five women in Ethiopia suffering from a devastating childbirth injury called obstetric fistula. Rejected by their husbands and ostracized by their communities, these women are left to spend the rest of their lives in loneliness and shame. We follow each of these women on their journey to a special hospital in Addis Ababa where they find solace for the first time in years.

An Emmy Award-winning film, A Walk to Beautiful was selected for numerous film festivals around the world, and named best documentary of the year by the International Documentary Association. It is an Engel Entertainment production, directed by Mary Olive Smith and produced by Steven M. Engel and Mary Olive Smith

Sea Change
